any one of a group of thermoplastic, synthetic resins produced by polymerizing a compound, such as vinyl acetate, that contains the vinyl radical; polyvinyl resin. Vinyl resins are much used for adhesives, floor coverings, toys, molded articles, phonograph records, and surface coatings.
